Dental Prosthetist, Lab Technician
Meet Steven Anthony, your local Dental Prosthetist at Total Denture Care. He has 20 years of experience including the most up-to-date dental industry training.
Steven started his training as a Dental Technician working at the Dental Health Services where he gained a broad range of knowledge and experience in dental technology from some of the best technicians in Australia. He discovered a great interest in this area and excelled in the handcrafting of chrome dentures and all other dental prosthetics.
After qualifying as a Dental Technician, Steven moved to the private sector to continue his learning in new prosthetic techniques, researching the latest dental materials and equipment. He was quickly appointed as Head Technician and Manager of a well-established denture clinic in Perth.
Once the Advanced Diploma in Dental Prosthetics course was made available for the first time in a decade in Perth, he applied for the opportunity along with a high volume of applicants. Steven was one of only 20 applicants to be chosen into this competitive industry course to represent the new group of Dental Prosthetists in Western Australia.
During his studies, he was offered a lecturing position in Dental Technology at a leading international dental college, where he was able to share his exceptional skills and knowledge whilst mentoring students with a keen passion in this field.
In 2012, Steven opened Total Denture Care, a small clinic in North Perth where he built up his reputation on compassion, honesty and quality. As Total Denture Care continued to grow, the clinic moved to Attadale allowing more room to welcome the ever-increasing number of patients who were referred to the clinic by very satisfied patients.
By working in various challenging environments, this has given Steven the ability to learn from and treat the most complex cases such as patients suffering with cancer, dementia, mobility issues (including paraplegics and quadriplegics) and other serious health conditions.
As an experienced denture expert, Steven has also seen and successfully treated hundreds of patients each with individual cases ranging from dentures that are uncomfortable, poorly made and do not fit, and unnatural looking dentures. Time and time again, he has seen patients who have almost given up hope or just lived with a poorly made set of dentures in which his commitment to provide them with the care and quality they deserve, has left many leaving his clinic with so much gratitude for finally finding a denture clinic that has made them their best and most comfortable smile in their denture wearing life.
“My decision to become a Dental Prosthetist was more than just a job, it was when I realised how much I could make a significant contribution and difference in people’s lives – being able to eat, smile and talk confidently and comfortably is something we take for granted and I wanted to genuinely help others that were struggling to do so. My passion for people and technical skills led me to this very rewarding profession.
Professionally, I strongly believe in providing a compassionate, honest, respectful and quality service that genuinely cares about each individual patient. This is why it’s important for me to keep our clinic as a smaller boutique service compared to larger chain denture clinics so I can ensure this high level of quality and service is never compromised. It is important for me that the way a patient is treated is just as important as the denture treatment they receive. This is reflected in Total Denture Care’s referrals and reviews on all the online search websites.” – Steven Anthony
In his spare time, Steven loves gardening and gets much joy from growing his own vegetables. Being amongst nature whether it be hours in the garden, bush hikes or a swim at the beach, are just some of the things he appreciates in life. Other interests include reading (gardening books of course!) and capturing special moments through photography. Last but not least, Steven feels blessed to have a large extended and loving family in which celebrations around fine food and even finer company is always a must to fill his week when away from the clinic.
